Description dE 2010-11-21 13:14:43 UTC
I didn't even find it in the EAPI documentation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 nm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-21 21:43:47 UTC
That's because it doesn't exist. There's package.unmask, and use.mask, but that's it. Read man portage. Whatever you're seeing, either it doesn't actually exist, or it's in an unstable Portage version, or else it's something that only belongs in a profile and is not meant to be user-set.

Portage team: do let us know if it's something that actually exists and if you want end-user documentation for it. Otherwise, closing as INVALID.
Comment 2 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2010-11-21 23:13:11 UTC
There is no use.unmask. We use negative settings to undo use.mask settings.
Comment 3 dE 2010-11-22 01:49:45 UTC
Then how do you officially unmask the gallium USE in mesa from the x11 overlay?
Comment 4 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2010-11-22 02:02:20 UTC
mkdir /etc/portage/profile
echo -gallium >> /etc/portage/profile/use.mask
Comment 5 dE 2010-11-22 02:16:20 UTC
So use.mask doesn't have a documentation.
Comment 6 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2010-11-22 02:26:06 UTC
There's some documentation in the 'portage' man page, but it lacks examples.

Bugzilla is not a support venue. Please take your questions to the Gentoo Forums (, in the Unsupported Software area, which is where all questions regarding overlays belong.
Comment 8 dE 2010-11-22 04:04:52 UTC
I think it should also be in make.conf man.
Comment 9 dE 2010-11-22 04:05:41 UTC
Oh... no, on second thought, it's ok there itself.
