Description Dave Andruczyk 2003-11-26 16:35:03 UTC
build of lm-sensors package (normal unmasked version 2.7.0-r1) went without incident. /sbin/
sensors-detect was run with the safest choices. (NO ISA probing, use smbus instead of ISA).

insertion of i2c-amd756 module went without errorNov 26 19:19:13 shrapnel i2c-core.o: i2c core

insertion of w83781d module results in immediate deadlock. if sound is playing the card loops in its
buffer forever. no mouse, no keyboard response. only fix was reset via reset button or power.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge lm-sensors
2./etc/init.d/lm-sensors start
3.
Actual Results:
upon insertion of the w83781d module by lm-sensors script system locks hard.

Expected Results:
module should have inserted without error or hardlock. (error is much preferred to hard freeze) About
6 months back this DID work.

System details:
Tyan S2460 Dual Athlon MP board
	(2) 1.2Ghz Athlon MP processors (not overclocked)
	Nvidia GeForce 4 MX440 video
LSI 53c1010 dual ultra 160 scsi
kernel 2.4.20-xfs-r3
