When compiling dev-libs/poco with MAKEOPTS>=2, the build usually fails with a .so file not found by ld. This happens about 2 out of 3 attempts to build when the machine is under heavy I/O load, about 1 out of 3 attempts when there's nothing heavy running besides. I also couldn't repoduce it with the test USE-flag enabled. I know this is a very vague report, but i couldn't really find anything except using MAKEOPTS=1 emerge -1 -j1 poco to make it build. I had no other similar issues on this machine so far. Using MAKEOPTS=1 makes it build reliably (12 times in a row). My suggestion would be to make the ebuild filter for MAKEOPTS=1.
