What about 1.5.34?
openafs-kernel-1.5.34 looks a little worse. During configure: ... checking for size_t... yes checking return type of signal handlers... void checking for __FUNCTION__ and __LINE__ macros... yes checking whether ln -s works... yes checking for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ranlib... x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ranlib checking for bison... bison -y checking whether byte order is known at compile time... yes checking whether byte ordering is bigendian... no checking your OS... configure: error: Linux headers lack version definition config.log isn't very enlightening (should it be? The kernel module compiles fine with the current openafs-stable-1_4_x branch and I expect the new release will be out soon. I have not tested the module although. In the meantime, you can test with the patch attached. Just so you know, the /doc/man-sections of the patch doesn't apply for me, there is no such directory (at that stage at least). Just removing those blocks from patch makes it apply nicely and compile also went fine. Thanks For The Patch!
I have problems using the patch, the patch process can't find files and stucks.
I forgot to mention, the stable version does not compile either, although my system is relative clean.
The patch, minus the /doc sections, works for me.
it woudl be nice if sb could put the patch in the portage. i sucks really that the package faile from time to time and no maintainer seems to fix it in portage.
The patch is somehow unofficial. I was promissed on the openafs list the 1.4.12.2 release would be made soon, so I would rather wait for it.
Three weeks later, what about openafs-kernel-1.4.12.2?
(In reply to comment #12) > Three weeks later, what about openafs-kernel-1.4.12.2? > It's now one day shy of two weeks after the "three weeks" comment. I've been waiting since the unstable 2.6.36-gentoo-r2 and 2.6.36-gentoo-r4 and today stable 2.6.36-gentoo-r5 was released. openafs-kernel-1.4.12.1 doesn't compile with any of them.
No release yet. I have asked again and if there is no comment within a day, I would propose to use the cleaned up version of the patch, which seems to work well.

I have uploaded 2 patches as suggested by the openafs developers. Could you please test them if they work for you? Those will be included in the new official release expected in the next few days.
(In reply to comment #17) I tried the patches on an x86 (using heimdal w/AFS) and it worked fine with preliminary tests. I put an ebuild with the patches out on mhammill user overlays so I'll use that to test some other arch tomorrow. Thanks! /Mike
(In reply to comment #18) Have now tested a bit using the above ebuild with both patches on an x86_64 and have encountered no problems. /Mike

Works fine here on amd64 with 2.6.36-r5. Also tested that kerberos support is working via aklog.
