I updated my system, moving from gcc 4.3.5 to 4.4.4 and updating my kernel from 2.6.34-gentoo-r1 to 2.6.35-gentoo-r10. Since then the sound module ice1712 stopped working. As I have several sound cards on my computer it is quite certain that it is the module that is broken (I had to reenable the module for my built in hda-intel sound card to get some sound, since I couldn't get ice1712 to work). It is most likely that it is the change from gcc 4.3.5 to 4.4.4 that causes the problem, since after rebuilding the whole system (before moving to kernel 2.6.35-...) the sound was already broken. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Compile kernel 2.6.35-gentoo-r10 (or 2.6.34-gentoo-r1 probably) with gcc 4.4.4 modprobe snd-ice1712 (which oddly works) Actual Results: aplay -l says there is no device, dmesg does not list anything new Expected Results: aplay -l should give a list of devices capable of playing sound and dmesg should say the module found some hardware
