It needs to be present or, otherwise, applications relying on gsettings will fail to store settings. Would also be interesting to decide what package should pull it in deptree, I would vote for adding dconf as a PDEPEND of glib (since it's providing gsettings) Reproducible: Always
@pacho, did you consider what's in the gconf changelog, that is setting: GSETTINGS_BACKEND=gconf until dconf is actually ready for use ?
And, do you think dconf is not still ready for general usage? Looks like other distributions like OpenSuSE and Fedora are using it with Gnome 2.32 :-/ (I would need to check Ubuntu also)
