Last stand-alone release was 5.10.10 in 2008. Newer versions are included with app-editors/emacs (e.g. version 5.11 in Emacs 22) or app-editors/emacs-vcs. From <http://www.gnus.org/distribution.html>: | Stable versions of Gnus is included in the Emacs and XEmacs editors. | If you want more leading-edge versions of Gnus, I would suggest using the | bzr Emacs repository. | If you want total bleeding edge Gnus, use the Gnus git repository. Upstream changed from CVS to Git five months ago, however, nobody has reported that our live ebuild app-emacs/gnus-9999 is still CVS-based. From this I conclude that a live ebuild is not needed. (And it could be recreated in the Emacs overlay in the unlikely case that there is a user's request for it.)
