It would be nice to have a turnkey solution to embedded cross-development. We have sys-devel/crossdev, but it has issues crossing architectural lines. CodeSourcery provides a patched version of GCC as "Sourcery G++ Lite" with fixes to many of the minor issues for a variety of platforms, such as arm, mips and power/powerpc. Moreover, in addition to it's source tarballs, it distributes tested and documented binaries. Getting this into the tree would go a long way to improving support for embedded development. http://www.codesourcery.com/sgpp/lite_edition.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: n/a Actual Results: n/a Expected Results: n/a I looked into writing an ebuild, but the toolchain eclass is a little intimidating.
Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Markos.
