Description Kevin O'Gorman 2010-08-17 22:55:59 UTC
Every time I run emerge for the last couple of weeks, I get this warning:
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies \
!!! 'perl-gcpan/Exporter' has a category that is not listed in /etc/portage/categories

And sure enough, there is no such category. Perl has an Exporter, but it has nothing directly to do with CPAN (except for being listed there like all Perl
modules are). The closest thing 'eix cpan' finds seems to be app-portage/g-cpan

eix-sync and emerge sync don't change anything.

So: how do I get rid of this thing?

app-portage/g-cpan puts its generated ebuilds into the perl-gcpan category.

Does you overlay contain this category?
Do you have perl-gcpan/Exporter installed?

I don't think I have an overlay, but I'm not sure.
I have app-portage/g-cpan installed.
Exporter is not installed. "eix Exporter" finds 4 packages, none of them
in perl-gcpan and none of them installed. The closest match is the last:
dev-perl/Sub-Exporter but it's not installed.

Heh. In Comment #1 you have an overlay:

PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage/overlay"
Comment 5 Kevin O'Gorman 2010-08-22 14:06:11 UTC
My bad. The offending entry was in my world file! Not even an overlay.
