Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2010-08-11 09:43:12 UTC
Managing my MYSQL installation with dev-db/phpmyadmin-2.11.10 I observed today that if I first try to login with a wrong user name (non existing) and after that using another (correct) user name + password - firefox-3.6.8 complaints about wrong authentication and presents the first (wrong) username.

Restarting the browser (firefox) helped to login with the second (correct username + password pair). Konqueror-4.4.5 doesn't have such a problem.

Reproducible: Always

This is due to the cache, not something that will change anytime soon, I suggest you report the issue upstream to mozilla and request them change it there.

I agree this is an upstream problem in Firefox 3.6. However, I don't believe it is best described as a caching problem. Firefox sends the correct password to phpMyAdmin, but does not follow the resulting 302 redirect, whereas other browsers, such as Konqueror or Epiphany, do. This may be to do with changed code to prevent redirect loops. (That the text field contents revert to previous values is therefore probably a separate issue that may have something to do with caching.)

There is an upstream bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=618835, but it doesn't (yet) seem to have had any attention.

In the mean while there's a solution :-)
