I am installing gentoo for the first time.  I am following the tutorial and I am using the live cd.  When I get to the part where I need to extract the stage1 tar file, I get "tar: ./bin/gzexe: Cannot open: No such file or directory".  It then repeats this error for each file it's trying to extract.

The command I am typing is tar -xvjpf /mnt/cdrom/stages/stage1-*.tar.bz2

I also tried typing the full file name, but no luck.

please help!

Any luck on this?  Are you sure the MD5 checksum on the ISO matches?

In the future, these types installation questions might be better suited for the forums or IRC.  If nobody there can help you, then I'd file a bug.
