Description Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-10 15:15:43 UTC
We have finally created the 'Greek Accented Vowels Howto'. It really needed
work to notice some variables that didn't let correct accentuation of the
vowels but finally we got it.
Now the question: Shall I add an attachement to our recently created howto? We
did it using the same format the gentoo web has.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I suppose that this is a small howto (just some settings)? Can't this be integrated in the localization guide for the Greek language?

Either way we need a Greek translation team and their commitment to continue to produce translations (and updates to translations) in order to publicize your information.

All right, we are about 5-10 people (who are also in the Gentoo forum) that indeed have agreed to translate (at least try to translate) all documentation.

Which is the procedure we must follow?
Comment 3 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-12 09:02:58 UTC
In short: commit a couple of guides so we can see that you know how to master GuideXML (which won't be a problem) and tell svyatogor (or tell it in this bugreport :) who the lead translator should be, and who should be the follow-up translator. These two people will then receive the necessary CVS access to commit documentation.

More information about all this can be found at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp/doc/en/docdev.xml

Yiasou koumbare ;)

The procedure is as follows. First of all you need to have a few (2-3) translated docs, the most essntials ones, like x86 install guide. Then you submit them to Bugzilla. After that, the person who is gonna be lead traslator for the language needs to contact me (svyatogor@gentoo.org) and if everything is ok we proceed to give him/her CVS access and officially list Greek on our page a maintained language.

Egine file :)

I am the one that has taken control of our first XML document. My main 'helper' is parapente (indeed we both do most translation work and are usually around).

All right, we'll end the localization guide and, after that, we'll do the installation guide.

You'll have news from us soon!

BTW, you can check both english & greek versions of our recent job... we'd like to know wether we are doing it the right way.

My greek isn't as good as it was once (who am I kidding, never knew greek :) but the layout looks okay (its a tad different from our current layout, but that doesnt matter)
Comment 8 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-16 05:12:19 UTC
We are now translating the localization guide and will include in it our howto. I'll use _your_ layout for the final version. Thanks to Svyatogor for the location of the XML files.

Great; when finished, can you start a new bugreport? I'm closing this one as it
doesn't really represent the original thoughts.
