Description Alec Meyers 2010-07-08 01:49:40 UTC
When updating udev today, I noticed some confused messages and bash errors, but the emerge did not fail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =sys-fs/udev-159

Actual Results:

Happens with udev-160 too...

Happens here as well with

flame@yamato ~ % uname -r
2.6.35.2+

The kernel_is() function from linux-info.eclass only seem to consider three-components version strings.

Maybe it should be using versionator.eclass nowadays?
Comment 4 Xepher 2010-11-03 23:57:49 UTC
Same issue here... using udev-164, and portage-2.1.9.24

 * Your kernel version (2.6.35.7) is new enough to run udev-164 reliably.

 *
 * udev cannot be restarted after emerging,
 * as your running kernel version (2.6.35.7) is too old.
 * You really need to use a newer kernel after a reboot!
