There is a compatibility library available, which provides QAssistantClient for Qt 4.7. In Ubuntu, it has been packaged as libqtassistantclient-dev. What about Gentoo? This will workaround qtiplot build issue and probably some other too.

I added a 'compat' USE flag to qt-assistant-4.7.0 that can be used to install the compatibility package.

If I remember correctly hydrogen does not build too, while hydrogen-9999 builds flawlessly.

All the major blockers are gone. Please consider unmasking Qt 4.7 soonish

Qt-4.7 is stable and in tree for a long time. All blockers have been fixed. I am closing the Tracker
