The Tcl/Tk script shows the following error when the "Show" button is pressed on the GUI.

couldn't execute "xli": no such file or directory
couldn't execute "xli": no such file or directory
    while executing
"exec xli -geometry 400x400 ../examples/text.pbm &"
    ("eval" body line 1)

"eval exec $imgviewer $file &"
    (procedure "Show" line 4)

    invoked from within

"tk::ButtonUp .abar.show"
    (command bound to event)

Note that I did not check the other Portage versions of gocr, although the same is likely to apply.

can you please provide the version of gocr you used (in the subject) and at least an `emerge --info` of you system please?

Ok, 

i just reproduced this with the current stable on amd64, app-text/gocr-0.45.
You might want to add media-gfx/xli (show button), media-gfx/xsane (scan button) and something that provices tkispell (spell button), or at least tell the user to do so to prevent this "failure" during runtime.

dev-perl/tkispell is in the tree since a while

Closing this one, as the dependency problems specific to this bug have been addressed. (tested with 0.52)
