Not exactly gcc 4.5 fault. Upstream changed header: http://www.singular.uni-kl.de:8002/trac/changeset/12546 and didn't fix the tests :)
Created attachment 236345 [details, diff] patch for tests This patch partially solves the test suite However it fails because of missing rules on Makefiles. Upstream really doesn't care much for test suite ( latest commit 5 months ago ) I suggest that the maintainer should restrict tests for this package and report the issue upstream Furthermore there are more QA issues with this package like: * Not respecting LDFLAGS * Calling directly g++, c++ instead of the tc-getCXX values so it will definitely wont work on distcc/cross compilation
The gcc-4.5 fix was applied upstream but the tests are completly disfunctional and upstream will not work on them before they fixed there build system. I restricted tests. The Gentoo specific QA should be fixed in 3.1.2-r2, there are some upstream QA warnings remaining however. I'm aiming to stable this version of singular by the end of the year. Closing.
