Just copying the ebuild is not enough, it needs libgpg-error. This gpgme version is needed for gpa-0.7.0 according to the release notes.
you might want to double check the gpgme4-config script ... on my system, it seems to output -I/usr/include when asked for --cflags (instead of -I/usr/include/gpgme4) and -lgpgme when asked for --libs (instead of -lgpgme4)
Created attachment 26975 [details] New gpgme ebuild This is a new ebuild for gpgme-0.4.4. It now depends also on libgpg-error (at least 0.5). I tested it at home and it works perfectly.
kdepim 2.2 is requiring this version if you compile it from CVS. Please put into cvs
balsa-2.0.17 also requires the newer version of gpgme, please bump.
