Description Aleister 2010-04-19 16:34:15 UTC
i noticed that kdelibs depends on enchant and enchant can use either aspell or hunspell as backends. To cut it short i modified the kdelibs-4.4.2 ebuild to either require hunspell or aspell set for enchant, when the spell flag is set for kdelibs.Did a recompile(with hunspell set and -aspell for enchant) and cleaned aspell of the system and checked that it works and it did. Small but important fix to avoid having 2 spell checking libs installed ;)

Reproducible: Always

Enchant abstracts spell checking backend I guess it should just depend on enchant...
Comment 3 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-05-16 13:02:13 UTC
So, does anyone remember what the reason was for the hardcoded dependency on an english language dictionary (app-dicts/aspell-en)?
Comment 4 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2010-06-05 21:23:52 UTC
Hunspell support is disabled in source code explicitly.

Available Sonnet backends are:
- aspell
- enchant
- hpell

I don't see a point it installing multiple backends - only enchant backend will be installed, that should satisfy both aspell and hspell lovers (as it's dictionary wrapper library as pva noted).

Fixed (in 4.4.2, 4.4.3 and above), thanks for reporting, indeed this issue needed to be sorted out.
