# /etc/init.d/proftpd --quiet reload Checking syntax of configuration file Syntax check complete. the --quiet option should prevent init script from producing this output.
Thanks for your bug report. Add a patch for that issue to the version bump request in Gentoo Bug #330253.
Thanks for the report, and thanks to Bernd, fixed in in 1.3.3a, just added in CVS :)
it seems that init script still complains in some cases: # /etc/init.d/proftpd --quiet reload ProFTPD is not running. I think the script should be still quiet, even in this case.
I reviewed how the sshd initd script behaves on the --quiet option and adoped it to the ProFTPD initd script. I added a patch of this adoption to the version bump request in Gentoo Bug #343389. With this patch the script does not output anything when using the --quiet option.
Created attachment 253071 [details, diff] proftpd.initd patch (against proftpd.initd) As requested in Gentoo Bug #343389 this is the patch in unified format.
Thanks Bernd, init script updated in CVS
