With EAPI=2 we can move many things suggested to be done in src_unpack to src_prepare instead. Additionally, it would be nice to mention using ${DISTDIR} when a plain-text file is in SRC_URI (unpack would ignore it).
Actually we should just add a note that with EAPI 2 and it's rarely needed to use src_unpack. With plain text files if they aren't used for building they can just directly be installed to the target system in src_install or then you should use src_prepare.
