Comment 1 Joshua Kinard gentoo-dev 2003-10-22 22:05:16 UTC
Mind trying gcc-3.3.2 and glibc-2.3.2-r7 to see if this issue is resolved?
Report back here with any sucesses or failures.
Comment 2 Stefan Sarzio 2003-10-23 12:45:44 UTC
Unfortunately just failures. The new gcc emerged fine, but still the same
errors with glibc.

The only difference with the errors is the "-r7" instead of "-r6" - thus
I don't repost them.
Comment 3 Joshua Kinard gentoo-dev 2003-10-29 15:41:59 UTC
Try glibc-2.3.2-r8, which is in portage now. I honestly have not seen anything
strange as this for a glibc build. Looks like something odd in the building
of the documentation, which I doubt many even read. Likely, the documentation
can be cut out somehow. I noticed you have -doc in USE, so I'm not completely
sure what triggers this.
Comment 4 Stefan Sarzio 2003-10-29 21:50:36 UTC
I've already tried -r8 - no success. Will try with +doc today.
Comment 5 Joshua Kinard gentoo-dev 2003-10-30 00:06:34 UTC
Weird. You have to have something "odd" about your particular setup that
is causing this issue. The question is "What is it?". Let me know how the
+doc goes.
Comment 6 Stefan Sarzio 2003-10-30 00:34:45 UTC
Will do.

Just a question beforehand (while the emerge is running): why does this show
no doc?

--- cut here ---
# emerge --update glibc -vp

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r8 [2.3.2-r1] +nls -pic -build -nptl
--- cut here ---
Comment 7 Stefan Sarzio 2003-10-30 02:00:38 UTC
Just the same with +doc. :-/
Comment 8 Alexander Gabert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-05 04:12:59 UTC
what version of makeinfo do you have?

and with which USE flags did you emerge makeinfo?

thanks for answering,

Alex
Comment 9 Stefan Sarzio 2004-03-05 04:53:59 UTC
I cannot reproduce that any more, sorry!!
Comment 10 Alexander Gabert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-23 18:54:18 UTC
no error, no bug.

Sincerely,

Alex
