the gdk-pixbuf ebuild has a dependency on gnome-libs, which is not needed in a kde environment. I would suggest to add it only if the gnome use flag is set. See Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
gnome team: so as to solve this long standing bug why not make a local USE flag ... something like '!if-gnome-stuff-breaks-dont-file-a-bug? ( gnomelibs )' ... that way most people will still get the gnome gdk pixbuf while people who really seem to care about this issue can disable it and then we dont have to worry about them filing bugs after they broke it ;) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 7693 ***
because those people can as easily edit the ebuild themselves, i'm not interested in adding USE flags everywhere for the most unlikely scenarios.
I wouldn't call it a unlikely scenario to install gimp under kde. Changing the ebuild just survives until the next rsync. I have solved the problem by creating a local gdk-pixbuf ebuild with a high version number, but this feels hackish. Sorry though for issuing a duplicate, but searching for gdk-pixbuf yielded no results.
why do you want gnome support for gimp under KDE, you could use -gnome .
I am using -gnome gimp uses gtk-perl gtk-perl uses gdk-pixbuf none of the dependencies check "-gnome" I can't really say that it is gdk-pixbufs fault, probably gtk-perl should check the use flag. Thanks for the quick responses.
