Howdy. A while back I tried my hand at creating an ebuild for libwebcam and uvcdynctl. Now, there's a new version out, compatible with current kernels. Logitech provides GPL'd libraries and utilities to control their UVC webcams (and possibly others): http://www.quickcamteam.net/software/libwebcam And a complete (if hacky) build HOWTO: http://www.quickcamteam.net/documentation/how-to/how-to-install-the-webcam-tools . I may try to resurrect the old 0.1.1 ebuilds and update them to be more "modern", but at least I want to get the request in g.b.o. These pacakges are *quite* useful to control things like brightness, contrast, focus (auto or manual), etc. on UVC webcams. I'm also going to see how much I can eliminate X or other GUI deps, as I'd like to run this on a "headless" camera server. Cheers!

Created attachment 229671 [details] patch, that removes debian packaging part from cmake files; belongs to libwebcam-9999.ebuild The packaging part of the cmake files uses dpkg. As we don't want to package here, I simply removed it. Shouldn't be a problem.
