Description Petr Pisar 2010-02-01 13:16:16 UTC
As mentioned in bug #245841, comment #10, this new nsdejavu
(app-text/djview4-4.5-r1 (nsplugin), app-text/djvu-3.5.22-r1 (jpeg nls tiff
xml)) does not work on my www-client/mozilla-firefox-3.5.7
(net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.1.7).

Anybody here with the same problem?

Short problem description: plug-in loads, opens (e.g. local) file, renders user interface and first document page. But once I click into the document area, browser loses plugins X window and I get blank browser viewport.

My Qt4:

Comment 1 Petr Pisar 2010-02-01 17:52:12 UTC
I compiled mozilla-firefox-3.6:

net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.2-r1 (alsa java)
www-client/mozilla-firefox-3.6-r1 (alsa java linguas_cs linguas_en)

and it still fails.
Comment 2 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-01 18:02:58 UTC
Well, I've tried on partially stable x86 system www-client/mozilla-firefox and so far plugin works... Do you have the same behaviour with all djvu files (try http://theor.ran.gpi.ru/latex.djvu that works here...)

x11-libs/qt-assistant-4.5.3
x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.3-r2 (glib iconv qt3support ssl)
x11-libs/qt-dbus-4.5.3-r1
x11-libs/qt-gui-4.5.3-r2 (accessibility cups dbus glib gtk mng qt3support tiff)
x11-libs/qt-opengl-4.5.3-r1 (qt3support)
x11-libs/qt-qt3support-4.5.3 (accessibility kde)
x11-libs/qt-script-4.5.3-r1 (iconv)
x11-libs/qt-sql-4.5.3 (iconv qt3support sqlite)
x11-libs/qt-svg-4.5.3-r1 (iconv)
x11-libs/qt-test-4.5.3-r1 (iconv)
x11-libs/qt-webkit-4.5.3 (kde)

Could you try to reproduce this problem with empty profile? (just create new user with empty homedir and try there) Could you try to attach gdb and see where it goes?
Comment 3 Petr Pisar 2010-02-01 19:22:29 UTC
The same problem with empty profile, the same problem with provided `Nabor i verstka v sisteme LaTeX' document.

Acctually, the djview4 (nor firefox) does not crash. One of the party just destroys plugin window. And even after that djview receive window focus events (when I strace djview and move pointer to the firefox window, it recieve data on unix socket). OTOH, the main loop with short sleep does not cycle anymore.

Other interesting thing is clicking on icons in the toobar (e.g. zoom in, next page) or scrolling by mouse wheel works. But click into djview canvas or sidebar invokes the bug.

Unfortunatelly, all my binaries are compiled with -fommit-frame-pointer and stripped so I can no get any usefull data from gdm.

I can recompile djview, but recompiling Qt or firefox takes on my machine very long time, thus I don't want do that. I tested binary firefox (development snapshot from Mozilla) with the same result.

What I can say definitively is pre-djvu-3.5.22 nsplugin code worked for me. Also npplugin works.

I have somewhere another Gentoo i686 box with more stable packages installed. I will try to reproduce it on the other box.
Comment 4 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-01 20:11:00 UTC
Unfortunately qt team eagers to drop qt:3 from the tree as fast as possible... I can push old djvu to sunset overlay but still it'll will be removed from the tree in not far future.

That said, could you try to download and install qt libraries from http://gnome.i686.buildhost.0xd.ru/ ? They were built with debugging symbols so this may help to debug problem further. If you wish to review make.conf is there too.
Comment 5 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-05-19 13:33:52 UTC
Any progress here? I'm unable to reproduce this problem, so in order to fix that I need you to investigate it... Closing as NEEDINFO at the moment.
