And it's available in the Haskell overlay. Not everything builds with it yet; the notable problem is dev-haskell/gtk2hs. As such, it won't get into the tree for a while. Furthermore, the new policy is going to be that the tree will have the latest version of the Haskell Platform [1], with newer GHC's, libraries, etc. in the overlay for testing purposes. 1: http://hackage.haskell.org/platform/

I've put ghc-6.12.1 and friends into the portage tree, hard masked (it'll appear very shortly). # Lennart Kolmodin <kolmodin@gentoo.org> (26 Jan 2010) # Masked GHC and friends for testing. >=dev-lang/ghc-6.12 >=dev-haskell/haddock-2.5 =app-admin/haskell-updater-1* Using it will make you unable to use several other haskell packages, due to the breaking changes it brings. For less bleeding edge users that want less headache, we recommend to follow the Haskell Platform, which currently includes GHC 6.10.4. Developers should update their libraries to work with GHC 6.12.1 so that they will work when the new Haskell Platform is released. We will look into a way to not have GHC 6.12.1 hardmasked, yet not forcing upgrades for standard Haskell Platform users. For bugs related to ghc 6.12.1, please make new bug reports. Thanks! Enjoy :)
ghc-6.12.3 is added to portage (and unmasked). Keyworded for most popular architectures.
