A new beta version has been released and it's been working fine for me.

A simple version bump from the previous beta version in the tree works fine.

Does that patch from 29 is needed?

Yes please bump this package. I have been hit very heavy by the bug in the 29 series with not being able to scan in environments with large #'s of AP's. This issue is said to be fixed in 30_pre9

I did have a chance to test 30_pre9 a bit today just renaming the 30_pre8 ebuild.
I did not find any problems in either of the two tested environments. It did indeed fix my scanning issue when 100+ AP's/Channels/SSID's are found.
