`ddd' should rdepend on `gnuplot' `ddd' uses `gnuplot' to plot various graphs and histograms.
If you want the graphs ...
i don't actually use ddd at all, i think i only touched it to fix the deps for motif. maybe bug-wranglers can assign it to someone who knows more about it?
I just fixed a bug once, but do not use it. I dont mind adding the depend, but its one of those optional stuff that depending on the amount of usage a heavy ddd user need of it, so would like a few other opinions.
Local USE Flag perhaps? Call it "gnuplot" and call in the gnuplot dependency if that is the case?
kumba, make it so
Or existing 'plotutils', and expand its descripting in use.desc ?
I'm not sure I follow... [sorry if I'm missing something obvious] ddd, when plotting data, just assumes `gnuplot' is present. While you can change the plot program to something different via X-resources or in the config dialog ("helpers"), I'm not sure whether there is an alternative to `gnuplot'. So an additional USE flag would only change the dependency, not the material that actually gets installed by the ebuild. On one hand, the few people that are still using ddd probably know how to emerge gnuplot manually... but on the other hand, it's a very small prog... 3-4 minutes download for dialup users plus maybe 30 seconds compile... compared to ddd itself that's nothing.
There's been no activity here for over a year. Kumba, do you have some time so we can close this one?
I added the RDEPEND, closing
