I'd like to have all packages in stage3 covered by some group in license_groups, see my message to gentoo-dev: <http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/msg_91b0e351e5213e91c04bf5e105e3ce8f.xml> When looking into the individual files of man-pages I've found that "freedist" isn't really appropriate. Fortunately, Debian has already done the work of disentangling things: <http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/m/manpages/manpages_3.23-1/manpages.copyright> Going through that list, I think that LICENSE="as-is GPL-2 BSD" would be appropriate for man-pages.

That would be much more accurate, but what about getitimer and pciconfig_read? They're both listed as freedist. Would it be possible to filter out those 2 files, based on ACCEPT_LICENSE?
no, we're not doing that kind of crap i dont personally care about the LICENSE variable. feel free to tweak base-system/toolchain packages however you want Ulrich.
sorry, that might have implied more than i wanted ... feel free to change the *value* of LICENSE="..." however you see best Ulrich
(In reply to comment #2) > no, we're not doing that kind of crap I agree. > i dont personally care about the LICENSE variable. feel free to tweak > base-system/toolchain packages however you want Ulrich. I've changed it to "as is GPL-2 BSD", as this agrees with the license information from upstream: <http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/licenses.html> Vincent, if you think that getitimer.2 and pciconfig_read.2 are problematic, then please report this issue upstream. These two files don't hinder Debian to carry the package in "main", i.e. classify it as free.
I've updated it again, to get rid of the vague "as-is" (see recent discussion in -dev ML). I've also changed GPL-2 to GPL-2+. Assuming that the permission from comment #2 still holds.
