i tried to emerge pango-1.2.3.  early on in the compiliation, it died with errors in 
gnome2_src_compile (i apologize for not saving the exact trace).  after looking at bug #22572, i 
emerged freetype2 and fontconfig, which solved the problem.  pango should register these 
dependencies.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. have outdated freetype2 and fontconfig on your machine
2. emerge pango
3.
Actual Results:  
the compilation fails

Expected Results:  
built properly

the deps are correct. Problems may on occasion arise from incompatabilities between xfree, fontconfig and freetype versions (probably not completely functional testing xfree ebuilds).

I doubt you can reproduce this, so closing it as invalid.
