I think this is not the reason for the tests to fail.
Do the tests succeed if app-text/tree is installed?

Comment 4 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-18 23:15:30 UTC
Do they succeed for you if you do emerge -1 app-text/tree first?

If so, we can add DEPEND="test? ( app-text/tree )"
Comment 5 Kent Fredric (IRC: kent\n) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-19 03:39:47 UTC
with tree installed, it still fails, just fails differently and in less substantial ways, but that's a different problem.

To be fair, "it fails tests, one reason is 'tree' cant be found, but there are other factors "
Comment 6 Kent Fredric (IRC: kent\n) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-19 03:43:37 UTC
the problem is discussed in the stable-req for udev 146, https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286074 , with logs, so this bug should be either a depend or a dupe on that one, but I'm not sure which.
Comment 7 Kent Fredric (IRC: kent\n) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-19 03:56:35 UTC
( its also possible it attempts to run 'tree' when a test fails, but I don't know enough about the test infrastructure to know )
Comment 8 Matthias Schwarzott gentoo-dev 2010-03-15 21:43:05 UTC
udev-149 and udev-151-r1 now run tests fine. For udev-146-r1 tests are restricted now.
