Error writing data.

This is the same stopping point that I hit with 1.8.5 and 1.8.6 ...

My USE flags are: USE="utf8 ogm oggvorbis -apm mmx sse mtrr 3dnow doc acl
apache2 dvd fbcon gtk2 moznocompose moznoirc moznomail pda php sse tiff win32
-arts -kde -nls -gnome -qt truetype gd"

I've also tried this with USE="-doc", and the same thing happens. The build just
hangs at the above Error line, and I have to Ctrl-C to get back to a console.
