Description Paweł Rumian 2009-10-21 23:16:57 UTC
After compiling wormux-0.8.5 and starting the game it crashes after selecting 'Play'. The most important console output is:

! Error in graphic/surface.cpp:88 (Wormux 0.8.5) : Unable to open image file '/usr/share/games/wormux//map/random_map.jpg': Failed loading libjpeg.so.62

I have media-libs/jpeg-7 installed.

After installing media-libs/jpeg-compat-6b-r1 the game runs with no errors.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compile wormux-0.8.5
2. Start the game
3. Click 'Play'

Actual Results:
The game crashed with
C++ exception caught:
Error in graphic/surface.cpp:88 (Wormux 0.8.5) : Unable to open image file '/usr/share/games/wormux//map/random_map.jpg': Failed loading libjpeg.so.62

Expected Results:
The game should run with no error.

Comment 1 Tristan Heaven (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-21 23:18:45 UTC
You just need to rebuild sdl-image
Comment 2 Tristan Heaven (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-21 23:31:03 UTC
It should work if you use sdl-image-1.2.7-r1 (or 1.2.8)

thanks

It seems I've got the same bug, but:
media-libs/jpeg-compat doesn't exists anymore...

Doesn't anyone know what's the actual equivalent of it?

Read Comment #1. The jpeg-compat (or slotted jpeg) is NOT for source based packages, fix your system instead.
