Hi, I've spent some time trying to figure out how to indicate the cdroot location for booting the livedvd without it automatically scanning every device. It happens that I have a crashed hard drive and I wanted to use the livedvd to try to recover my files. The boot process was taking forever to detect my thumb drive (/dev/sdd1) because my /dev/sdc1 is messed up. So, it would be good to include the cdroot boot option in the handbook: 2.c. Download, Burn and Boot a Gentoo Installation CD Booting the Installation CD Hardware options: Passing 'cdroot=/dev/sdd1' as a boot parameter made the boot process go smoothly. Reassigning to one of the Team 10 guys. Perhaps it can be added to http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/pr/releases/10.0/faq.xml, but it won't be added to the installation handbook.
I will include this option so that's available in the isolinux F[2-10] options but we won't include this on the FAQ and shouldn't be on the handbook as most users won't need this workaround. likewhoa
(In reply to comment #2) Excelent. Thanks
