Normally I am using "stable" ebuilds. For samba I activated the "testing" once using package.keywords. Following samba related packages are listed in it: - net-fs/samba - net-fs/samba-client - net-fs/samba-server - net-fs/samba-libs - virtual/talloc - virtual/tdb [ebuild U ] net-fs/samba-libs-3.4.2 [3.3.8] USE="ads aio caps cups ldap netapi%* pam talloc%* tdb%* tools%* -addns% -cluster -debug -examples -samba4% -smbclient% -smbsharemodes% -syslog -winbind" 0 kB <snip> * make utilities make bin/tdbbackup bin/tdbdump bin/tdbtool Compiling ../lib/tdb/tools/tdbbackup.c Linking bin/tdbbackup ../lib/tdb/tools/tdbbackup.o: In function `backup_tdb': tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x166): undefined reference to `tdb_open' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x1af): undefined reference to `tdb_open' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x1c4): undefined reference to `tdb_transaction_start' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x1e1): undefined reference to `tdb_close' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x1e9): undefined reference to `tdb_close' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x217): undefined reference to `tdb_transaction_start' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x258): undefined reference to `tdb_hash_size' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x280): undefined reference to `tdb_traverse' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x2bc): undefined reference to `tdb_close' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x2d4): undefined reference to `tdb_close' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x2dc): undefined reference to `tdb_transaction_commit' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x31b): undefined reference to `tdb_close' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x33c): undefined reference to `tdb_open' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x35a): undefined reference to `tdb_traverse' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x38c): undefined reference to `tdb_close' ../lib/tdb/tools/tdbbackup.o: In function `copy_fn': tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x443): undefined reference to `tdb_store' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x451): undefined reference to `tdb_name' ../lib/tdb/tools/tdbbackup.o: In function `main': tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x611): undefined reference to `tdb_open' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x633): undefined reference to `tdb_traverse' tdbbackup.c:(.text+0x641): undefined reference to `tdb_close' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [bin/tdbbackup] Error 1 * * ERROR: net-fs/samba-libs-3.4.2 failed. * Call stack: * ebuild.sh, line 49: Called src_compile * environment, line 2999: Called die * The specific snippet of code: * emake ${BINPROGS} || die "emake binprogs failed"; Same issue here (~AMD64). Probably related to bug #288543? equery l '*tdb*' returns nothing. emerge -pvDu samba Calculating dependencies ... done! I guess found a solution. I switched to gcc 4.3.2-r3 (using gcc-config, see: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml for details)
Is this still an issue with the newest ebuilds? samba-libs/samba-libs-3.4.2-r3 samba-server/samba-server-3.4.2-r1
Seems to work now. Must be solved.
I could successfully build - samba-libs/samba-libs-3.4.2-r3 - samba-server/samba-server-3.4.2-r1 with gcc-4.1.2.
