I tried to import the farsight2 project and it just goes into a loop spinning the CPU to 100%.

I guess we can either make it stable and not care.. since its very probably an upstream problem

In my case seems that it finally imports it, have you tried to launch ot from terminal looking for mesages? In my case, I get lots of messages while it starts to use lots of CPU but finally ends :-/

anjuta 2.26 belongs to 2.26 release, please do not remove bugs from trackers they in fact belong to.
