The documentation says specifically "Move to the releases/amd64/2008.0/ directory" .

But there, you will only find outdated stage3 files...

This should be changed to "Move to the releases/amd64/current-stage3"

On the same page, there is an example saying:

 # md5sum -c stage3-amd64-2008.0.tar.bz2.DIGESTS
 stage3-amd64-2008.0.tar.bz2: OK

Ideally, this should also be updated to some recent stage3 build.

Please search before reporting; there's already a bug on updating the handbooks.
