Description Thomas Pegeot 2009-09-04 18:25:50 UTC
Hello,

Even if the gnome or kde support is enabled, the Openoffice interface is ugly! It looks like this : http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5097/ooowindowne3.png (it is not my screenshot but i get the same thing).

Moreover, Openoffice-3.1.1 provides Kde-4 integration (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283575) : so it would nice to have it working here!! :)

I usually don't compile Openoffice, because it takes too long. Anyway, i compiled it today, and the kde4 integration was nice. :)

I don't want to compile Openoffice any more, that's why having a nice integration would be appreciated!! ;)

Regards,

Thank you in advance!!

Reproducible: Always

I've never understood this either - on my slackware machine, which also uses the official binary from openoffice.org (basically a big rpm2cpio on *.rpm), I get excellent GTK widgets from within xfce. I cannot get it to work using the same upstream tarball on gentoo.

Which Window Manager / Desktop are you using?

This is not yet in the official upstream builds which are used for openoffice-bin, so there is nothing we can do here. So for the time being: If you want KDE4-support, you have to use the source version

I'm using KDE4 (4.3.65).

I didn't know that! I keep on using the source version until kde4-support is in the official upstream builds. ;)

Same thing here.

I am using gnome-2.26.3. I tried running `soffice` from terminal with OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="gnome" but it also didn't work. The interesting thing is that it works on my second machine. The difference lies in arches - it works fine with x86 and it does not with amd64.

Original report was about kde4-integration, this is available now, so closing
