I am using tightvnc-1.3.10-r1 since 09-04-21 as remote X server to connect to via tightvnc on a Vista machine at work. This version fixed bug 246732 for me and I haven't experienced any problems so far.

legolas dustin # emerge -pv tightvnc

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

ppc stable
Comment 4 Henning Schild 2009-10-01 11:53:40 UTC
On amd64 media-libs/jpeg-7 became stable today. However < net-misc/tightvnc-1.3.10-r1 requires media-libs/jpeg-6b. Since the new jpeg lib is stable the stable tightvnc should be able to use it. So please make tightvnc-1.3.10-r1 stable on amd64.

Second that, took me sometime to figure out what happened.

Sorry, it happened because bug 285598 was missing from the "Bug 282704 blocks: " field in this bug so nobody noticed it.

QA issues with tightvnc:

- Is using "gcc" directly, should be using toolchain-funcs eclass with tc-getCC or such to get the full name.

- These files are built without respecting LDFLAGS:
* /usr/bin/vncconnect
* /usr/bin/vncpasswd
* /usr/bin/vncviewer

- Missing include string.h and stdlib.h:
* vncconnect.c:17: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘exit’
* vncconnect.c:51: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘exit’
* vncconnect.c:58: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘strlen’

but still, amd64 stable, because alternatives are worse
