Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-13 10:14:56 UTC
there's no more use.defaults in profiles
Comment 1 Harald van Dijk (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-01 18:58:32 UTC
The references will be gone in the next release.
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-04 12:21:49 UTC
I guess there won't be a new release? Should we move forward with lastriting ufed as obsolete?
Comment 3 Paul Varner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-10 15:54:57 UTC
Since Harald has/is retired. We haven't had anyone working on it. However, we have a copy of the source code in git, so let's see what we can do their first.
Comment 4 Sven Eden 2012-12-30 11:37:07 UTC
It's on my todo list.

The passage in man page that referenced use.defaults now reads:

       /etc/make.profile/package.use
Contains per package default USE flags

(git repo as per commit f3cf8171cccb65f4b33f7d8be12ae1605d4fc1a8)

The actual parsing of package.use is not yet built into ufed. It is on my todo list and will be added for the next version.

Should this bug be kept open until I can foresee a (rough) arrival date of the next version?
Comment 6 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-02 09:01:12 UTC
I'm fine with closing this as "RESOLVED, UPSTREAM" when the fix *is in repository (git)*, but not yet in Portage
Comment 7 Paul Varner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-03 16:10:44 UTC
I normally keep bugs open until there is a release containing the fix in the tree. The reason, I do this is because the default search options do not look at resolved bugs.
Comment 8 Sven Eden 2013-01-03 16:45:59 UTC
To be honest I prefer bugs staying open this long. It helps me maintaining my todo list. ;)

I have (hopefully) finished updating both the help screen and the man page, and pushed the updates to git.

I'd appreciate if someone proofread the texts, as english is not my native language. Thank you very much!
