Description Alexander Bezrukov 2009-08-04 18:40:03 UTC
Hi, =dev-python/skype4py-1.0.31.0 is broken preventing its use as a normal user. This is a known problem fixed quite a long ago in svn but the author did not release an updated version.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =dev-python/skype4py skysentials
2. edit /usr/bin/skysentials.py until it runs as root
3. launch /usr/bin/skysentials.py as a normal user

Actual Results:
Segmentation fault

Expected Results:
Application window opened

An ebuild which installs skype4py from svn

Attached is an ebuild which fetches sources from svn. Perhaps it is not the very best solution for this problem (a better would be to host a snapshot or derive a patchset from it) but at least it works. Please consider adding this to portage or solve the problem another way.

Hmm strange, everything works here without problems.

(Only bug 292693 remains for skysentials, but when this trivial thingy is fixed no problems remain...)

If -9999 fixed it; The fix should be included in the new release then? See bug 303239.

I no longer use this application and have dropped maintainer-ship.

Hi,

I've just added skype4py 1.0.32.0 to the tree and would like you to test, if this bugs issue still exists with the new version of skype3py.

I don't like to add an -9999 ebuild if it isn't really necessary.

Thanks. Michael

Well it always worked for me. And I just managed to send a sms on my x86(!) laptop as normal user. So, still resolved for me.

However, please dont take this as incentive to keyword ~x86. Stability was not even worth ~x86, something's wrong in the api.
