When using autocompletion in python 2.6 with readline 6.0 there's an extra space after the completed word (e.g. in ipython). There's a patch for this issue in Arch, I will attach it here.
Created attachment 199262 [details, diff] Patch applied in Arch From http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/python/repos/extra-i686/
Has this problem been reported to Python upstream?
Yes, it is reported in http://bugs.python.org/issue5833 The patch attached is a subset of the patch in that report, only fixing the space issue. Sorry for forgetting to include the upstream bug.
This patch works for me ;)
The upstream bug says the patch was committed to all branches (2.6, 2.7, 3.1, 3.2), which means it'll be in 2.6.5 (if that ever gets released). In this case, can it be applied in 2.6.4 to save us some waiting?
Fixed in 2.6.5 and 3.1.2.
