Description Shannon 2009-07-23 04:36:42 UTC
After upgrading from kde4.2.1 to kde4.2.4 no hotkeys worked. In the system settings panel powerdevil said that it was not started and was most likely a problem with dbus. Also service manager in system settings was blank.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Happened every time I logged in.

Actual Results:
No hotkeys. Powerdevil wouldn't start. Couldn't see the services in service manager.

Expected Results:
The hotkeys to work. Be able to adjust settings for powerdevil and have everything work.

I'm not sure where I finally found it but to solve the issue I ran:

chmod a+rx /usr/share/kde4/services/kded

Could the ebuild check the permission of the folder and at least warn people to fix the permissions?

It's known issue with broken permissions, unfortunately unresolved yet.
Still, broken permissions on /usr/share/kde4/services/kded is sth new.
