Description Bob Raitz 2009-07-18 07:40:59 UTC
Updating my machine to xf86-video-intel-2.7.99.902 caused the following issues:
1) vertical color bars approximately 3-5 pixels in width
2) frozen mouse pointer
3) machine can be rebooted via ssh or with Skinny Elephants.

This was tested three different times to make sure it was a driver issue, or as close to one as I can get. xf86-video-intel-2.7.1 works properly. Have not tried xf86-video-intel-2.7.99.901.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emergexf86-video-intel-2.7.99.902
2. Color bars
3. Frozen pointer
4. Machine can be rebooted with <alt><SysRq><b> or via ssh.

Actual Results:
See above.

Expected Results:
Expected driver to work properly, not lock machine.

Have you tried removing option accelmethod completly or replacing it with UXA?

remove Option "AccelMethod" "xxa", no difference.
change Option "AccelMethod" "xxa" to Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" no difference with driver listed, breaks 2.7.1
remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf completely no difference.
Comment 6 Sven 2009-07-19 11:10:59 UTC
Same issue here. Yet, after seeing the colorbars, X usually restart.

Hardware: Intel i915
Software:
xorg-server 1.6.1
mesa 7.4.4
libdrm 2.4.11
xf86-video-intel-2.7.99.902
Comment 7 Seerp 2009-07-19 21:34:03 UTC
Same problem here with intel i915.

xorg-server 1.6.2-r1
mesa 7.4.4
libdrm 2.4.12
gentoo-sources 2.6.30-r3

The problem goes away when downgrading to version 2.7.1.

Also I would like to tell that the intel drivers have never worked for me with the 2.6.30 kernels. Every day my computer chrashes at least once.

I tried downgrading the video drivers and changing the acceleration from uxa to xxa or exa, neither of which helped.

Reverting back to the latest 2.6.29 kernel makes everything fine again.

I don't know whether to open a bug report for this: It seems to happen completely at random, and I don't really know how I can supply anything helpful about it. But if you want me to just let me know.

I have this issue as well. I've been lazy in finding out if there's a bug report on the issue. I get the feeling there is, but I will check to see. The issue of which you speak is the same whether it's .30 vanilla, gentoo, or zen sources.

Please try with .901 and report back

Thanks

Actually, please try again with .902-r1 that I've just committed. It should hit your local sync mirror within an hour or two.

Thanks

Hey Remi! How are you?

I tried it, and X started and exited properly, but there was NO opengl. My GL screensavers didn't like it one bit. Close.

Do you still want me to check .901?

And closing with the proper resolution.

@Bob, your opengl issues are probably very similar to those described in bug #278119. Let's track them there for now.

Thanks

OK...I'll add myself to the CC list.

Thanks again.

That's got it now. Thanks for the help.
