Description Johan 2009-05-21 06:12:29 UTC
I was corresponding with the pptp-devel list about a problem I had, and they wanted me to forward that the current version of pptpclient in portage is to old. It should be version 1.7.2 and it would be a good idea to patch it with the replacedefaultroute patch used by Debian and Ubuntu.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.pptp --version
2.
3.

Actual Results:
ellen ~ # pptp --version
pptp version 1.7.1

Expected Results:
pptp version 1.7.2

Sorry, it's the pppd package that should be patched...

pptpclient version has been bumped.

As for replacedefaultroute pppd patch, we solved in a different way in Gentoo. We've added the defaultmetric pppd parameter (see pppd man page) and I dare to say our solution is technically superior to the one that was promoted by SuSe.
