Description Paul Monsour 2009-05-06 03:55:50 UTC
Using genkernel-3.4.10.904, the same .config file, and the command "genkernel --oldconfig --splash=natural_gentoo --splash-res=1680x1050 all" on clean source directories on gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r1 and gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r2, creates a bootable machine from the r1 source but not the r2. The latter freezes just when the splash screen should come up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compile a clean source tree with the command "genkernel --oldconfig --splash=natural_gentoo --splash-res=1680x1050 all"
2. Start the computer using the r1 and r2 kernels, respectively.

Actual Results:
The files derived from r1 boot; the files derived from r2 do not.

Expected Results:
Both should boot.

gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r3 is now out and the problem is gone! Builds and loads without problem. Yippee!
