0.67 is out with many bug fixes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Yes we are aware but we are holding off until we can get gaim-encryption support working. We may release an 0.67 without ssl support but are waiting to hear back on an ETA for gaim-encryption to be released.
Is the gaim encryption plugin worth it ?
Like I said we aren't going to wait forever for it. If I don't hear back by Monday at 12 PM CST I'll go ahead and release the ebuild I have without ssl or cjk support. But yes IMHO it _is_ worth it. I never like to use IM clients unencrypted, but that is my personal preference and paranoia which shouldn't dictate gentoo policy, so FYI. For the time being you can simply copy over the 0.66 ebuild to gaim-0.67.ebuild and emerge gaim without ssl or cjk USE support USE="-ssl -cjk" emerge gaim.
...and comment out the gaim-0.66-prefs.c.diff epatch line.
I've just heard back from the gaim-encryption author and he will look at things tonight. lostlogic, do you think we should go ahead and release an 0.67 without ssl and when gaim-encryption is fixed just go to -r1? I'm fine with this strategy. However I don't know if that cjk issue will still be prevalent. I suggest going without that patch (since it didn't work anyway) and contact the people on that bug to ask them to test it.
Created attachment 16320 [details] gaim-0.67.ebuild cvs.gentoo.org is down for the morning so I'll post this here in case you want to test it out. The gaim-encryption install changed pretty dramatically from what it once was but I have it working, for me at least.
*** Bug 26916 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
gaim-encryption release 2.06 due to some missing config files in 2.05, but they don't affect us. But I'll make sure 2.06 works for us as well and change the ebuild accordingly.
Created attachment 16326 [details] gaim-0.67.ebuild Cleaned it up a bit and moved the unpack into the src_unpack where it belongs.
gaim-0.67 with gaim-encryption-2.06 is in CVS. Masked unstable for all platforms.
