Description Andreas Nilsson 2009-04-27 13:25:24 UTC
Trying to mount a nfs v3 share exported from a Gentoo box ( gentoo-sources 2.6.28-r3) with a client that tries to autonegotiate an AUTH method fails as the gentoo nfsd returns an empty list of AUTH methods.

A snoop of gives

192.168.0.10 -> butler       DNS C butler. Internet Addr ?
      butler -> 192.168.0.10 DNS R butler. Internet Addr 192.168.0.1
192.168.0.10 -> butler       PORTMAP C GETPORT prog=100005 (MOUNT) vers=3 proto=UDP
      butler -> 192.168.0.10 PORTMAP R GETPORT port=44106
192.168.0.10 -> butler       MOUNT3 C Null
      butler -> 192.168.0.10 MOUNT3 R Null
192.168.0.10 -> butler       MOUNT3 C Mount /data
      butler -> 192.168.0.10 MOUNT3 R Mount OK FH=D734 Auth=

which is an invalid respons according to MOUNT protocol RFC,

<snip>
If mountres3.fhs_status is MNT3_OK, then
mountres3.mountinfo contains the file handle for the
directory and a list of acceptable authentication
flavors. This file handle may only be used in the NFS
version 3 protocol.
<snip>

If I specify sec=sys in the export in /etc/exports it works just fine and the mountd returns AUTH=unix

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Export a directory via nfs
2. Try to mount the export with a strict client
3.

Actual Results:
Mounting fails due to failed AUTH negotiation.

Expected Results:
mountd should have returned a list of valid AUTH methods so the client can start negotiation of AUTH method
