It's more likely that you did have avahi emerged with
qt3 useflag, so you are suffering from something similar
to bug 158476.

as X team member here is what i know about this:
This bug is usual example of .la files issue.
Can be avoided by using --as-needed in your ldflags.
So far there is nothing we can do about it, as libxcb is serious headache as is now.
