Description Ivan c00kiemon5ter Kanakarakis 2009-03-25 23:22:03 UTC
after emerging app-virtualbox-ose-2.1.4-r2 and adding user to the vboxusers group, there is no VirtualBox command or menu entry to start virtualbox.
VBoxHeadless  VBoxManage    VBoxSDL       VBoxTunctl    VBoxVRDP
The above exist but 'VirtualBox' doesn't.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge app-virtualbox-ose-2.1.4-r2
2.add user to group vboxusers
3.try to find/execute VirtualBox

Actual Results:
-bash: VirtualBox: command not found

Expected Results:
The virtualbox application should start an interface.

Comment 2 Alessio Cassibba (X-Drum) 2009-03-27 10:15:35 UTC

please check that:
- the current user (the user that should start virtualbox) is in the
vboxusers group:
id your_username

- check if currently all the needed binaries are installed on your system,
please provide the output of the following command:
qlist virtualbox-ose | grep bin

i'm using the same version here and i have no issue with it

sorry, just noted the qlist attached to this bug, so ignore my previous comment,
can you please provide the USE flags used to emerge app-emulation/virtualbox-ose?

Comment 4 Ivan c00kiemon5ter Kanakarakis 2009-03-27 21:09:46 UTC
$ groups <my_user>
adm wheel floppy audio cdrom video usb portage plugdev games dropbox vboxusers koukos

$ emerge -pv app-emulation/virtualbox-ose
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] app-emulation/virtualbox-ose-2.1.4-r2 USE="additions alsa hal python sdk vboxwebsrv -headless -pulseaudio -qt4" 0 kB

You should turn on the qt4 USE flag to use the "VirtualBox" frontend,
as the elog message says after/during the emerge process:

"No USE="qt4" selected, this build will not include any Qt frontend."

Noted in the ebuild already, so closing for now
