hi,
  to enable users to mount windows shares on gentoo
the following programs must be installed suid root

smbmnt
smbumount

check out the man pages for above binaries for details.

NOTE: smbmount does NOT (and will not work is set) need suid root.

the emerge doesnt currently install these files with suid root.

(samba-2.2.4.ebuild)

okay, in the past we've expected the user to 
set his setuid bits himself.

but now i've changed the samba ebuild to do it.

thanks for the report.

fixed in samba-2.2.4-r1
